In course of orthodontic treatment, HSP expression may caused by mechanical stress. We examined the profile change of HSP immunohistochemically. Using male ddY mice, the Waldo method was applied. In the control group, periodontal ligament was observed as physiological arrangement, which weakly reacted to HSP27. In the experimental group the extension of the periodontal ligament cells and the expansion of the blood vessel occurred in the traction side. These tissues were strongly reacted to HSP27. These results suggest that the role of the HSP expression was maintenance of the constancy of the periodontal ligament cells.
